I\u2019ve been sitting with a question this week: why aren\u2019t we all panicking?<\/p>\n

We know the climate crisis is urgent. We know disasters are worsening. And yet, most of us just\u2026 carry on. I had a long conversation about this recently (a sneak peek of something I\u2019ll share more about soon), and a few ideas came up that I haven\u2019t been able to shake:<\/p>\n

  1. Climate impacts are local, but the crisis is global.<\/strong> That dissonance makes it hard to emotionally connect the floods in Texas, the fires in Australia, and the droughts in East Africa to the same underlying cause. It feels scattered \u2014 distant, even.<\/li>\n
  2. Disaster memory is seasonal.<\/strong> When bushfires or hurricanes strike, the urgency spikes \u2014 but then fades. By the time the next fire season comes, the media has moved on, and so have we. It\u2019s hard to build momentum when visibility resets every year.<\/li>\n
  3. Are we uninformed\u2026 or just overwhelmed?<\/strong> Would we act faster if climate impacts were front and centre in the news every day? Or would we switch off even more? In a world of doomscrolling, maybe we\u2019re already too numb to absorb the signal through the noise.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    None of these are answers \u2014 just questions I\u2019m asking myself. I\u2019m curious what others think.<\/p>\n
